Ocean Outdoor Joins the Royal Wedding Celebrations.

London’s two biggest advertising screens will join the nation’s Royal Wedding celebrations this Saturday (May 19). A live stream of the big day as it unfolds will be broadcast on London’s biggest full motion retail screen in Westfield Square which is operated by Ocean Outdoor for Westfield London. The screen measures 21.12m x 10.58m, making it as wide as the BFI London IMAX screen.

Live broadcast coverage provided by the BBC starts from 11:15am as wedding guests and members of the Royal Family arrive at St George’s Chapel in Windsor, followed by the ceremony itself and then the lavish carriage procession along the 2.5 mile avenue Long Walk. The digital out of home screen sits within the newly-opened Westfield Square, an outdoor events space at Westfield London. To mark the occasion, the Square will host a number of Westfield retailers celebrating in style with complimentary sampling and limited edition offers, with the audience seated in deckchairs. An image from the highly anticipated wedding of His Royal Highness Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will also feature on the iconic Piccadilly Lights which are owned by Landsec. A photograph of the newly-weds accompanied by a message of congratulations will be displayed on the large format curved screen for 40 seconds twice an hour from Saturday afternoon until Sunday evening.

This is the first time a royal wedding has been celebrated on the London landmark.

CYNORA presents high-performance blue TADF emitters.

CYNORA presents high-performance blue TADF emitters at the SID Display Week 2018

CYNORA, a leader in TADF (thermally activated delayed fluorescence) materials for OLEDs, presents its newest high-performing blue emitting materials at the SID Display Week 2018 in Los Angeles. The company is currently working with the key display makers to finish the commercialization of the industry’s first blue high-efficiency emitter. OLED displays have become standard for premium mobile and TV displays in the last couple of years. However, those OLED displays have not yet reached their fullest potential. High-efficiency blue OLED emitters are needed to reduce power consumption and increase the display resolution further. Despite urgent requests by the OLED display panel makers for a high-efficiency blue emitter in the last few years, no material supplier has yet been able to produce such an emitter

A Micro-LED technology and applications roadmap.

TrendForce's LEDinside published a new roadmap for Micro-LED technologies and applications. According to the company, mini-LED and micro-LED revenues could reach $1.38 billion by 2022, and $2.891 by 2025.

LEDinside sees Micro-LEDs restricted in the short and medium terms to niche and premium displays such as large format displays and microdisplays, which means that total display shipments will not be larger.

In the short/medium terms (the next 3-years), Micro-LED could find applications in AR projection, signage and TVs. All of these segments will enjoy the high brightness and high efficiency of Micro-LED displays, and especially in very large area, Micro-LED could be cost effective when used in a tiled architecture. For the AR market, the high efficiency and brightness will be attractive, and Micro-LEDs will capture a 18% market share by 2025 (720,000 displays out of a 4 million total market).

In the longer terms, Micro-LED develops will have to drastically lower production costs and increase production efficiencies if Micro-LEDs are to compete with mainstream displays (OLEDs and LCDs). The two main challenges are the production costs of Micro-LED wafers and the mass transfer process of micro-LED chips.

AWM Smart Shelf In-Aisle Topper and End Cap.

Not a huge fan of shelf-level LED strips because the resolution isn’t there for close viewing, and the little LED light chips will get the crap beat out of them, but I do like the big aisle-topper ribbon display implementation at a big-box store somewhere, by the LA-area company AWM Smart Shelf.

To be fair, the company does say the shelf-edge strips are ruggedized. Which is pretty much essential.

The aisle-long display is for Hershey products. The content looks very much like the sort of thing you’d see on the LED ribbons of a sports arena or the sideline ones you see in football (soccer).

In this context, My little Paris asked Holymage to realize a unique video mapping creation, a visual display of their dinner discovered. The main character "Petit R" takes us for 4 minutes through the history of the brand. On the border of the animation film and the video mapping, this visual gem is to be discovered on site, all year long during seminars or exceptional dinners.

Christies Extremely Narrow Bezel Video Wall LCDs

Display tech companies have not entirely given up on marketing narrow bezel LCDs for video walls, even though the prevailing wisdom is that fine pitch LED will take over as prices drop. There’s still a significant gap, though, unless you want to cross your fingers, toes and eyes and buy from a Shenzhen company with no support outside China and dodgy electronics and LED chips. For now, LCD is less cost and delivers fabulously crisp resolutions that aren’t really possible in smaller display walls, using LED.

Christie sells both technologies, as well as display cubes and projector systems, and is coming out with what it calls extremely narrow bezel displays, with a 1.8mm combined bezel (seam) between the adjoined LCDs. For the metric-impaired, that gap is a bit more than than the thickness of a penny and a bit less than the thickness of a nickel.

With the right content, those seams are not a big visual deal – though lotsa end-users are shifting to LED because there really are no seams. The ingeniously-named Extreme Series lineup of LCDs, focused on 49-incher LCDs, has advanced panel matching and are 24/7 rated. The integrated electronics support video wall scaling up to a 10×10 configuration and 4K multi-stream transport across up to four panels. Additionally, Smart Light Control automatically adjusts the brightness of each panel across the video wall for uniformity and consistent performance for the life of the video wall. The Christie FHD493-XE is compatible with the Christie Phoenix EP, an embedded processing solution, via an OPS slot. The Christie Phoenix EP installs directly into the FHD493-XE to process network sources, decode and manage video and data sources on multiple Christie panels. The panels start shipping in July but ;et’s assume you will be able to ogle them at InfoComm in June.
