Flexibel E-Paper van AUO.

AU Optronics (AUO) hat eine Reihe innovativer E-Paper-Anwendungen angekündigt, darunter die weltweit größte E-Paper-Display mit 20 Zoll und das erste flexible E-Paper mit 6 Zoll. Mit einer aggressiven Technologie-Entwicklung will das Unternehmen schon in 2010 flexible E-Paper-Muster liefern können. Sie sollen energieeffizient arbeiten und sind für den Consumer-Markt gedacht. Die dafür nötigen E-Paper-Technologien will AUO Ende Oktober auf der FPD International in Yokohama (Japan) vorstellen.Nach dem weltweiten Debüt seiner 6-Zoll-Displays mit Touch-Funktion im Juni 2009, startet AUO erste flexible E-Paper mit 6 Zoll im Oktober. Dank des Microcup-Technologie von Sipix beinhaltet dieses flexible E-Paper ein Kunststoffsubstrat, durch das die Anzeige wie be echtem Papier gebogen werden kann. Der gekrümmte Radius dieses E-Papers erreicht 100 Millimetern, es stellt 16 Graustufen bei einem Kontrastverhältnis von 9: 1 dar.

Darüber hinaus kündigt AUO für 2010 das weltweit erste EPD-Modul (Electrophoretic Display) mit einer Diagonale von 20 Zoll an, das bereit für die Massenproduktion sein soll. Es soll für Anwendungen im Bereich DooH geeignet sein und bietet eine niedrige Leistungsaufnahme von weniger als 2 Watt. Wie das 6-Zoll-Paper stellt es 16 Graustufen dar.

Door de komst van Windows 7, met multitouch-ondersteuning, zitten we straks allemaal met onze vingers aan de monitor. Ook Fujitsu komt met een serie all-in-one pc's die multitouch ondersteunen. Het gaat voorlopig om twee formaten, 20 inch en 23 inch, die in diverse kleuren leverbaar zullen zijn. De computer is onzichtbaar in de monitor weggewerkt, door de multitouch-technologie zou je ook zonder toetsenbord en muis kunnen werken, maar het is de vraag of dat in de praktijk lekker werkt. De all-in-ones's uit de Fujitsu F-serie beschikken over een 2,53GHz Core 2 Duo P8700-processor, 4GB RAM en natuurlijk Windows 7. Een 1TB (1000GB) harde schijf is optioneel, evenals een blu-ray brander. Er komt ook een versie met digitale en analoge tv-tuners. Die versie kun je ook als televisie gebruiken.

Wireless Sensor Networks -WSN-BAR.

Graduate students at the Center for Art and Technology -Taipei National University of the Arts,created a interactive touch creation, called the WSN-BAR, based on the concept of ambient intelligence, utilizing a wireless sensor network and vision-based tracking technologies. The video below demonstrates two modules, the Garden of Light, and Vivacious Bushes.

According to information from the WSN-Bar website, the installation detects the changes in the brightness of the environment, temperature, the C02 density of the outdoor air, and the movement of people within a building. This technology works in harmony to support the artistic focus of the WSN-BAR. Crystal Mesh.

Currently being realised in Singapore, Crystal Mesh is a new media facade. Crystal Mesh consists of a tessellated pattern made of 3,000 modules of deep-drawn polycarbonate covering a façade area of more than 5,000 m2. About 1,900 of these modules contain a regular matrix of compact fluorescent light tubes forming “active patches” within the façade. At night the light matrix superimposes the idiosyncratic physical structure of the white, crystalline daytime façade. But the irregular arrangement of these patches – dividing the façade into areas with different resolutions – does not create a large, homogeneous screen in front of the building, but instead forms a more general impression of the building’s “medianess” as an addition to and an essential ingredient of its architecture.”

artist Chris O'Shea's "Hand from Above" project, a joint co-commission between FACT (Foundation for Art & Creative Technology), Liverpool City Council for BBC Big Screen Liverpool, and the Live Sites Network. The installation premiered during the Abandon Normal Devices Festival.

Mitsubishi maakt 'oneindig grote' tv .

Elektronicagigant Mitsubishi heeft een nieuwe techniek ontworpen om beeldschermen te maken. Het bedrijf toonde tijdens de CEATEC-beurs in Japan vorige week haar 'oneindige' tv. Het apparaat bestaat namelijk uit kleine blokken met OLED-lampjes, waardoor het scherm naar believen uitgebreid kan worden. Een versie van de techniek wordt al gebruikt in grote reclamedisplays, maar de mogelijkheid om een OLED-scherm naar wil uit te breiden, is nieuw. Volgens de makers kan het scherm net zo groot worden als de eigenaar hem wil maken. Uiteraard gaat de resolutie per OLED-blokje wel omlaag naarmate het scherm groter wordt.
Op CEATEC liet Mitsubishi een 155 inch groot scherm zien.

Sony's got a thing for 3D with big plans to push the technology into your living room next year. While the first application will be applied to the flat screen TV, Sony's obviously thinking about other displays judging by this tiny prototype set for reveal at Tokyo's Digital Content EXP0 2009 on Thursday. The 13 x 27-cm device packs a stereoscopic, 24-bit color image measuring just 96 × 128 pixels viewable at 360-degrees without special glasses. If the prototype ever hits the assembly line then Sony envisions its commercial use in digital signage or medical imaging -- or as a 3D photo frame, television, house for your virtual pet, or visualizer to assist with web shopping in the home
