Bathtub Water as a Screen.
Forget about 4K TV for a moment: This augmented reality game uses water — colored white here — as its screen and your hands as the controllers, perfect for in-bath entertainment.
Developed by a four-person team at the Koike Laboratory at the University Electro-Communications in Tokyo, the AquaTop Display is completely interactive and based the movements of your fingers in the water.
“In Japan, the bathing culture is very prominent and so is the use of products,” say the AquaTop developers on their website. “The idea came from the use of commercialized bath salts that cloud the water. The surface of milky water can then be used as a projection surface. The more cloudy the surface, the more clear the projected images are.”
Here’s a pulled-back view of the tech used:
It’s not that complicated, really. Using a projector, a PC, and a motion-sensing Microsoft Kinect camera, in-water gaming, or any sort of programming you’d like to watch while wet, can be a reality.

Clothes shoppers can try on and design their own clothes
Source; www.inavateonthenet.net
Clothes shoppers can try on and design their own clothes with simple gestures using a new system aimed at the retail market. Mirror Mirror, designed by researchers from My Design Lab at KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology), works using a large display, a depth sensor and a projector. Such developments are seen as key to attracting shoppers away from cut-rate online shopping and back to high street.
To operate the system the user stands in front of a large display which acts as a transparent screen between the user and their reflection. A depth camera captures the gesture and body shape of the person and designs are projected onto their body.
The virtual garments are visible both on the user’s body as well as in the reflection to obtain a third person perspective. A background projector can also be employed to show various environments so the user can see how their clothes look in places like an office, a forest or a beach. The users can also design their clothes using mid-air gestures, rotating and scaling patterns and images to their liking. Designs can then be shared, exported and printed onto clothing.
Similar systems have been produced and are gaining interest from global clothing firms. Adidas plans to offer technology where shoppers can customise their own designs in stores by 2017.

NBA All-Star Saturday Night - Demo.
The 2015 NBA All-Star Weekend is stepping up the entertainment factor this year with
immersive motion graphics produced by Moment Factory for “State Farm All-Star Saturday
Night” in collaboration with televised live event producers Done + Dusted and lighting designer
Baz Halpin, Production Designer Tamlyn Wright of Silent House.
Moment Factory’s primary objective was amping up the experience at the Barclays Center, as
well as for viewers at home. Video animations, sound and animated LED lights in the crowd
serve to add drama and celebration throughout the event. The graphics also communicate key
stats before the challenges, using inspiration from the New York Subway maps and signage. As
the evening progresses through four events, the audience is entertained by ripple light effects in
the crowd, produced in partnership with Montreal-based wireless LED experts PixMob.
The highlight of the night is undoubtedly the slam-dunk contest. As players enter the court for
the Slam Dunk competition, the audience experiences realistic 3D destructions of the court,
accompanied by grandiose music. The visuals present each player in dramatic fashion, ramping
up the hype until their moment of glory.

Whitney Houston hologram to embark on world tour.
A hologram of the late Whitney Houston will take to the stage next year, as Hologram USA and Houston’s estate announce that fans will be able to watch the singer’s greatest hits during a new world tour.
The singer’s sister-in-law and president of her estate, Pat Houston, said in a statement that the hologram is “a great opportunity for her fans to see a reinvention of one the most celebrated female artists in history and to continue a legacy of performances that will not be forgotten in years to come.”
The show will reportedly open next year in the US before it tours around the world.
For those unable to make the gigs themselves, the shows will stream live on , a free online and live TV app founded by Alki David, who is also the CEO of Hologram USA.
“The opportunity to help share her spectacular gifts with the world again is exactly what I hoped for when I built the hologram business,” said David.
“We’ve got technology that’s causing a seismic shift in the entertainment industry, and a wonderful partnership with Pat Houston and the estate – I’m confident we’ll create the ultimate celebration of Whitney’s amazing artistry.”
Whitney Houston died on 11 February 2012, aged 48, after drowning in a bath at the Beverly Hilton hotel. Her death has been ruled as accidental and coroner’s officials cited heart disease and cocaine use as contributing factors.
Houston’s world tour is the latest addition to the company responsible for posthumous Tupac and Liberace performances, who last week confirmed that Billie Holiday would be immortalised as a hologram.
“For the first time ever and only in New York City at the Apollo, the magic of holographic technology will transport you to the concert of your dreams as Lady Day takes the stage again,” read a statement posted on the theatre’s website.

Light Paintings Morph into Geometric Creatures.
A stream of blue neon light dances around the Spanish desert in a new music for London based producer Sam Shepherd, better known as Floating Points. “Silhouettes” is a fresh fusion of electro-jazz funk off a Shepherd’s forthcoming debut album, Elaenia, set to release November 6th in the US on Luakea Bop. In the video, luminous fluttering stream navigates through the dark desert landscape of Rio Tinto in the city Huelva in southwestern Spain. Lines of light morph to create abstract geometric designs and symmetrical swirls. At one point the blue neon outlines the body of a shark and weaves through space like a creature of the sea.
The music video is the experimental brainchild of a creative team of mix media artists and filmmakers Pablo BarquÃn, Junior MartÃnez, Nathan Grimes, and Anna Diaz Ortuño. According to the video’s description, the visuals are produced with a light painting machine, similar to light artist Darren Pearson’s stop-motion animation work. Frame by frame, the machine draws 3D-animated, lucid light forms, taking its cues from Floating Points’ complex composition.
As the video comes to an end the light starts to gather in an orbit above a small hole. The light floats over a pool of water, reflecting the hued colors. The camera retreats backwards revealing the studio in which they filmed the video, providing a short peek into Hamill Industries, director Pablo Barquin’s production banner head and artist collective.

The facade of the hotel Jardins WZ in Brazil reacts to sounds and the air quality.
Sensors and Led technology integrate with brick, glass and concrete Hotel WZ Jardins in Sao Paulo to provide an interactive experience, called The Light Creature, allowing its facade to react and change color to the sounds of the environment and the quality of the air.
One of the last projects of the Brazilian study Guto Requena He has been in the hotel WZ Jardins in Sao Paulo. Under the name of 'The Light Creature', it has set up the facade of this 30-storey building of lighting that allows it to be visible both day and night, but really, the most spectacular of the project is that this is changing and responding to their interaction with the environment sounds that occur, getting to visually transform architecture.
This urban camouflage is designed from an analysis of environmental noise through the use of parametric software Grasshopper. The result is a visual reflection of the acoustic landscape of the iconic Avenida Rebouças in São Paulo.
So that these changes have been installed in the facade, integrated with the brick, glass and concrete, a full set of technologies with sensors, chips, microcontrollers and led strips seeking interaction with building so that it reacts to sounds and the air quality changes.
The WZ Jardins hotel was built in the 70's and, recently, the façade was rebuilt by Guto Requena creating an urban artwork that responds to a projector of research that explores the Hacked City and that seeks to create changes in the cities, public spaces and architecture.
This urban camouflage is designed from an analysis of environmental noise through the use of parametric software Grasshopper. The result is a visual reflection of the acoustic landscape of the iconic Avenida Rebouças in São Paulo.
The façade shows two different environments: one day and one night. In the daylight, it shows like a metallic skin coating that creates a pixelated in blue, grey and gold; and at night it illuminates with interactive patterns of light, thanks to the 200 Led lighting strips that have been installed.
Where are Transparent Displays going ?
Source; www.crystal-display.com
Airbus has filed a patent for an interactive aircraft cabin window display, indicating that the French aviation giant may display content, that can be controlled by passengers, on aeroplane windows in the future. The patent application covers interaction by touch or eye-tracking cameras and suggests the display could be used to represent “an environment outside the aircraft cabin window”.
The US Patent was filed on March 18, 2015 and opens up the possibility that passengers could access information about a view from an aircraft using an augmented reality application.
Presumably aircraft windows would have to get a lot larger to make use of this technology, which opens up a host of safety and cost issues, indicating that Airbus probably has its sights set more on publicity than a tangible development with this latest patent application.
However, this just shows the future of transparent displays as more and more ideas are being put into practise.
To check out our less expensive solutions check out our Transparent Displays or why not look into out Transparent Component Kits so you yourself can create an innovative solution worth patenting.

Digital signage market continues to grow.
The global digital signage market was valued at $14.6 billion U.S. in 2014 and is expected to see a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.18 per cent, reaching nearly $23.8 billion by 2020, according to research firm MarketsandMarkets.
North America accounted for the most market share in 2014 at approximately 34 per cent, followed by Europe at 29 per cent. The Asia-Pacific (APAC) market, however, is projected to experience the highest regional CAGR between 2015 and 2020, at 9.34 per cent, thanks to (a) the local presence of major liquid crystal display (LCD) manufacturers like NEC, Samsung, LG and Sharp and (b) the widespread adoption in Asia of digital signage in sectors like banking and education.
There has also been growing acceptance on a global level of the integration of digital signage in government buildings and other public facilities, although the fastest-growing sector worldwide is still retail, driven by the need to update promotional content quickly. Digital signage software, in particular, is seeing increased demand for the purposes of content management, distribution and scheduling.

VR adds new skin to a real world

While interacting with a virtual overlay as seen through a VR headset.
WILD is initially aiming its creation at the marketing and visitors attraction markets.
Merging real and virtual environments is a popular concept at the moment. with several companies such as Surreal Vision - a company recently acquired by Oculus Rift – and VOID (Vision Of Infinite Dimensions) developing similar projects.
US-firm Wild’s prototype has been built in its offices in Oregon and allows a user to open a door into a world where they can speed up and slow down traffic outside the office’s virtual window and change the weather with the flick of a 'real' switch. The explorers can interact – or in some cases eat – things that exist in both the real and virtual world such as popcorn.
Wild’s prototype uses a Samsung Gear VR headset with integrated smartphone. Multiple sensors track the whereabouts of the user, and establishes their interaction with the items in the space. It is these interactions with real world objects that ‘grounds’ the experience for the user, developers believe, and ultimately makes it more believable.
Wild describes itself as a firm that provides creative technology for branded environments and live events. Earlier in the year it launched an interactive game called CTRL ALT PDX which was installed on 750 square feet (or more than nine million pixels) of storefront windows in Wild’s hometown of Portland.
