Wanted !
We now have made the world where he could hide a very, very small place,” said Edward Hanko, the FBI special agent in charge of its Philadelphia office.
Remarkable for its staying power, the FBI’s “Ten Most Wanted Fugitives” list remains relevant and effective because it morphed into whatever media can reach the next tipster. The multi-media goal is to empower the public to “make the world smaller” for those on the run.

Moving Emotions: How Neuroscience is Opening New Doors for Digital OOH.
Following the successful launch of Ocean’s third wave of Neuroscience research in November, attention has focused not only on the results which quantify for the industry further accountability for full motion imagery, but it also focuses on what incremental conversations it now facilities for brands – how can they optimise their screen media plans? How can full motion digital out of home bring with it a new dimension of thinking? How can full motion digital out of home be the segue to new waves of creative thinking?
Today sees the release of an article in Campaign which talks about the research from both the Ocean and the wider Neuroscience perspective.
Hear from Helen Haines, Ocean’s Head of marketing and events, and Heather Andrews, CEO Of Neuro-insight UK, on why full motion digital out of home sits at a unique point in the media ecosystem.

Waitrose is creating a white Christmas display at shopping centres to tie in with its festive ad.
Artificial snow will fall every 30 minutes as its TV ad, "Snowed in" by Adam & Eve/DDB, plays with full audio on Ocean Outdoor’s large digital out of home sites.
The campaign will run this weekend and next weekend at Westfield shopping centres in Shepherd’s Bush and Stratford. It has been created by Manning Gottlieb OMD and executed by Talon.
"Snowed in" shows villagers who gather at their local pub for a Christmas morning drink getting snowed in. Instead of panicking or trying to get out they pull together a Christmas Day meal.
Alia Ahmad, marketing manager at Waitrose, said: "We are always looking for exciting ways to bring our brand to life and even more so at Christmas. We think this campaign will look and sound really magical as our ad plays and hopefully get people in the Christmas spirit."

Keeping Real Time at Schiphol Amsterdam Airport.
As modern humans, we literally and figuratively live and die by the fourth dimensional concept of time. And nowhere on Earth, as we know it, is that statement truer than at airports, where a delayed arrival or departure can set off a calamitous chain reaction for paying customers lugging both literal and figurative baggage to and fro. Unsurprisingly, timepieces abound at every turn whether it’s with digital clocks and screens or the traditional mechanics of minute and second hands ticking away. That said, what is the next step in terms of innovation for expressing this universal and practical concept? Maybe there isn’t yet a definitive answer within grasp, but we believe a starting point may lie in the performance art piece outlined below at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport.
Maarten Baas, a prolific and playful Dutch art designer known for blurring conventional lines with installations and performances at places like MoMa, Les Arts Decoratifs and the San Francisco Museum of Art, was commissioned by the Netherlands’ premier international hub, and Europe’s third largest airport overall, to essentially reinvent the clock for one of its main terminals. Baas has basically made it appear as if he is stuck inside a massive steel box suspended from the airport’s ceiling—doomed to forever draw and then erase the hands of a giant clock as time moves forward.
Although it was originally created in 2009 for Milan Design Week, this installation has confounded many an onlooker, not to mention online audiences. In reality, they’re all watching a 12-hour video loop. However, this shouldn’t diminish the fact that this feat initially required a flawless performance in real time. One only needs to check out Baas’ website for proof of his commitment to irreverent and self-aware presentations. But, for those that don’t have the time, simply check out the video below for a closer look and quick overview of the “Schiphol Clock.

Full motion digital out of home (DOOH) advertising is 2.5 times more effective than static sites.
A study carried out in Manchester has revealed that full motion digital out of home (DOOH) advertising is 2.5 times more effective than static sites. It also showed that online video performed better when DOOH was included as part of the media plan.
The research was carried out by Neuro-Insight on behalf of Ocean Outdoor and used brain imaging to explore the neurological impact of DOOH content on audiences. These were benchmarked against responses obtained for television and online video campaigns. It found that both static and full motion content delivered high levels of positive emotional response, but full motion creative delivered more branded peaks of memory encoding. The net impact of these measures in combination equated to a 2.5 stronger impact for full motion digital out of home compared to static. The results also indicated that full motion DOOH has a comparable impact to television and has the capability to build brand equity rather than just deliver a brand impact. “Previous neuroscience studies have established that iconic, large format advertising delivers heightened emotional response and strong memory encoding, and that this impact is heightened by full motion content,” said Ocean head of marketing Helen Haines. “We also knew going into this study, that premium sites have a positive priming effect on other OOH advertising. This new study takes those learnings further to show that full motion content delivers 2.5 more brand impacts over static displays.
“We’ve now established that DOOH delivers brain responses that are comparable to that of television advertising and that it works in a similar way, delivering multiple impacts and a strong emotional response: two key components that contribute to driving real world sales.” Researchers also examined short form video, to see how it performed in DOOH environments compared to online. The results indicated that short-form online video content elicited higher levels of response when delivered via a full motion DOOH screen and delivered more peaks of branded memory response. They concluded that the presence of full motion DOOH alongside an online campaign gives opportunities to positively prime the brain to respond strongly to content when seen subsequently in an online context. “Full motion DOOH is a growing delivery vehicle for short-form video content, but the study shows that it primes the brain to respond more strongly when the same content is viewed online. Which means online video campaigns will perform better if full motion DOOH is included in the media plan,” continued Haines. Fieldwork was carried out in Manchester, with more than 100 participants. They walked passed 3 static and full motion displays for brands including New Look, Netflix, Warburtons, Pixar, Tag Heuer and Gucci. In a study room, they then watched a film of what they have just seen, with headsets recording their brain responses to content on the displays.

3D Ad testing.
Buzz 3D Virtual Ad Pre Testing technology provides a Controlled approach in Virtual Reality for measuring Ad Formats and Creatives, resulting in consistent outputs. Confounding issues are removed as every respondent interacts with a billboard and/or creative at exactly the same moment, in exactly the same circumstances, which means that meaningful comparisons can be achieved. This forms a baseline for judging the degree of visibility achieved by a specific advertising surface (paper, digital, backlit), location or Creative which is impossible to replicate in the real world. This technology was chosen as the Virtual Solution for the prestigious European Consortium AM4DOOH research project involving FEPE and 4 of the world's largest outdoor advertisers (JC Decaux, ClearChannel International, Exterion Media and APG SGA). You can see more about AM4DOOH in a presentation by Neil Eddleston, Director General JC Decaux OneWorld, at youtube.com/watch?v=2Wkx9JkrT7s.

Universal trends in OOH – Location, Location, Location.
OCS (Out-of-Home Consumer Survey) is Posterscope’s proprietary planning tool and an integral part of Posterscope’s planning process across the globe. Since its launch in 2005, it has continued to expand and now encompasses over thirty markets and 100,000+ consumers worldwide.
OCS also allows us to identify key insights that are consistent worldwide, and in turn enable Posterscope to develop its OOH offering to meet these requirements. For example, the importance of context and relevance in OOH is now universally acknowledged, and, in recognition, Posterscope is rolling out its Liveposter product on a global basis. Liveposter offers a unique blend of context and relevance, as it serves engaging messages across multiple OOH locations using triggers such as time, day, and weather.
But which kind of messaging does the consumer really want to see? Based on the views of over 60,000 consumers from nine of Posterscope’s core OCS markets (the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Japan, Australia, the USA and Singapore), we can see a unanimous trend in the dynamic content that consumers engage with most when it comes to DOOH – Location. On average 60-70% of global consumers engage with contextual DOOH messages relating to the weather, time of day, day of week, seasonal events and live sports updates… but location is the dynamic content type most favoured across all 9 markets without exception. Almost 8 in 10 global consumers state that they are interested in location-based messages on DOOH.
In the UK, location-based messages resonate even more with consumers, and this becomes even further pronounced amongst specific audiences. For instance, 90% of London fashion consumers (“Londoners who are passionate about shopping in store to buy fashion items”) are interested in location-based DOOH content. This type of insight helps to inform and plan successful OOH campaigns, such as Timberland’s recent campaign which ran across shopping malls and high streets in London. Based on the viewer’s location, suggestions were made to visit a local store or landmark, along with relevant statistics such as distance, number of steps required, and calories burned, whilst promoting the unique comfort of the new Sensorflex product.
