Nike Store in Paris lets customers test sneaker colors using projection.
Taking your wild sneaker ideas from thoughts to display just got significantly easier. A Nike store in Paris recently unveiled a new device which allows customers to customize sneaker colors and see them projected on the sneaker, in real time.
French immersive technology company SmartPixels installed two video-mapping devices to project in the Nike Store on the fashion hub of Avenue des Champs-Élysées in Paris, France. Customers can customize sneaker colorways on the tablet attached to the video-mapping devices using the NikeID online service. SmartPixels connected the video mapping with NikeID’s configurator so customers need only place an all-white sneaker in the device and they will see the colors projected on the sneaker, in real time, as they select them on the tablet.
Even though Nike’s online tool for customizing hundreds of sneaker models is being used, the number of sneakers you can customize in augmented reality is limited. Customers at the shop are only able to customize AirMax, LunarEpic Low, and Cortez sneaker models. When it is not being used the machine turns into a glorified shoe display, flashing different color schemes on the sneaker.
Nike has slowly been testing how augmented reality can help customers. Last year, the company filed a patent application for an augmented reality system that helped people reach their exercising goals. In the system, “a virtual representation of that user’s performance [is] to be displayed during a future exercise routine to motivate the user,” according to the patent filing.
Nike has imagined a future where customers could 3D print sneakers from files sold by the company, and the firm recently proved that sneakers tying themselves is more fact than fiction. Makes you wonder what other pieces of the future the crew in Beaverton, Oregon is designing.

Samsung patents a mobile phone cover with an E Ink display.
Samsung filed a patent in Korea for a mobile phone cover that includes an E Ink display to show notifications. Some covers include a transparent part (or just a hole) through which you can see the display - and if it's an OLED, it makes sense because this uses very little power (only lit pixels draw power in an OLED display).
This is just a patent application for now, but it will be interesting if Samsung actually produced such an accessory for one of its future or present smartphones.

A next level visual experience.
Visuals have always been an important part of the sales gallery experience. Customers want a mental picture of what life in their new home will be like. And for buyers of luxury towers, the view has always been a major part of the buying decision. View photography was the best method for giving them the closest approximation of their potential city scene. Until the projection wall by Obscura. It’s a powerful new sales tool that takes a customer far past imagining with immersive viewscape technology. A massive 72 ft long by 10 ft high curved wall with twenty projectors makes the unknown, known.
A customer walking into a sales gallery needs to feel transported. They want to see and touch the amenities. Explore the options and fixtures. But now, with a push of a button, the stage has been set and they are on the 15th floor, SE corner with the corresponding views. Or the 30th floor. Is there a difference on the 35th floor? Let’s see. There is an audible “Wow.” Another push of the button and it’s the view at night. Another “Wow.” The buyers know the amenities and price points. And now the final question has been eliminated. They know their view.
The impact was tremendous for the LUMINA sales gallery. The wall created literal buzz on the street with people entering the gallery just to see it in action. A good sales gallery is a “wow” factor in and of itself, but now the viewing wall has created another “wow” factor for the sales team. With a bit of showmanship, the sales agent can control the environment and when the perfect moment comes, they can create the view that makes a customer’s eyes open a little wider. Sales galleries need to eliminate every possible objection from a buyer’s mind and this type of next level experience can be profound. When you are selling a ‘vision’, seeing is truly believing.

Ad campaign for Audi A5 Launch.
This is the world’s first automobile presentation employing real-time motion tracking technology. Acting as the author of its own presentation, the new Audi A5 coupé effortlessly controlled the 3D mapping scenario by driving around the projected area. Special sensors were attached to the car to detect its precise location in the 300+ sq.m space and to connect it to the live synchronization and rendering system creating impressive video content and controlling light fixtures in real time. More than 400 guests watched the show from the stand designed to secure a specific viewing angle. At the show’s culmination point each of them was surprised by a phone call from Artificial Intelligence.
It was initially a challenging experiment which turned into yet another sensational show in the Russian Events market thanks to the best artistic collaboration. We also highly value working with Audi Russia for the courage and opportunity to turn ambitious ideas into innovative products.

Supermarket of the Future, with Augmented, Reality opens in Milan.
Lots and lots of screens.
Carlo Ratti, designer, MIT professor, and author of the book, The City of Tomorrow: Sensors, Networks, Hackers, and the Future of Urban Life, is brimming with ideas about how data-driven tech can change our world. One of them, the concept of a smart, interactive supermarket, first presented at the World Expo in 2015, has already made it from prototype to reality.
Opened this week in Milan, Italy, “The Supermarket of the Future” debuts in the latest store of Coop Italia, the country’s largest grocery chain. The 10,800-square-foot shop holds some 6,000 products, which are all organized on interactive tables and shelves. When a customer moves to grab a specific product, relevant information such as nutritional value, presence of allergens, and waste disposal instructions are displayed on sleek screens suspended above as “augmented labels.”
A separate wall of over 50 monitors also form a huge screen for displaying additional information, all aimed at promoting more conscious and sustainable consumption. There, customers can check out top selling products, cooking suggestions, and more. In a press release, Ratti says, “In the near future, we will be able to discover everything there is to know about the apple we are looking at: the tree it grew on, the CO2 it produced, the chemical treatments it received, and its journey to the supermarket shelf.”

CES2017 - LG Display, Successful Development of a Talking Display First in the World
LG Display completed the dream having been hoped from flat display, and opened the product firstly in private booth of CES2017.
In the time when LCD was begun to be settled as a representative runner of flat display, a lot of display engineers hoped to the display to which speakers were attached. However, the speaker and display could not be unified because speaker could affect influences to liquid crystal movement.
Nonetheless, such limitations of LCD were solved through OLED. Convergence which unifies display and speaker becomes to be completed by LG Display ultimately.
LG Display made the sound come out directly by attaching small-size speakers to panel backside. If using this type, the feeling of having the sound of actor when talking could be gotten.
As the panel is vibrated along with the speaker movement, small beads having been put on the panel were moved in a wave according to sound effects. If expressing reversely, the sound could be seen. The talking Display to which anyone did not succeed becomes to be realized finally. The name of this Display is “Crystal Sound OLED.”
President Yeo Sang-deok having led Crystal Sound OLED development said a worry that impact to credibility on OLED panel would occur in the first developmental stage, but revealed a pride in that successful product development was made first in the world eventually. President Yeo did not hide joy in making best work in his life as top head of LG Display which led OLED TV development.

Self Makeup with Deep Learning.
When it comes to next generation retail, it is important to segment client types.
Some clients need recommandations and human contacts while others are fine or prefer with self-service. The luxury industry is no exception to this trend and our daily digital world make the consumers more autonomous in their purchase experience. Now, the approach must be more subtile in the luxury industry than in plain retail.
In order to split the consumer flow into these two categories, LM3LABS has developed and deployed an interactive kiosk solution for self makeup for a famous cosmetic brand in Japan.
The solution lets the user select her language. Then, she selects a look among the list which instantly appears on her face as a realistic makeup. She can unselect items from the look. Once the selection is made, she can print the list of the items and give it to the sales person.
The Self Makeup solution works with the same quality on ladies with glasses and on all skin tones. Indeed, LM3LABS developed a unique blending algorithm which mimics the real makeup powder. The colored dust creates the same natural result on any type of skin.
