Switchable Glass
Being chosen to take part in an ambitious project on behalf of one of the UK’s leading Art Schools is a true testament to the capabilities of switchable technology from Intelligent Glass. This project, commissioned by Ruskin School of Art, specified by Spratley Studios and installed by Invicta Window Films, is no standard privacy application, applying an inventive spin on its projection capability, as you would expect from the Fine Art Department of The University of Oxford. Serving as the hub for some of the most creative minds of a generation, certain demands from such an environment are of course to be required.
Switchable glass or film, sometimes known as ‘electric glass’, is a premium privacy solution based on the use of PDLC technology. When the glass is switched off, it’s natural state is frosted, providing an effective privacy solution, as well as projection screen or even a touch screen. Switch the glass on, and in an instant it transforms to a clear state. Popular in partitioning applications, meeting room privacy, bathrooms, residential applications, retail and merchandising; switchable film has even been used as part of art installations in the past. There are so many uses of switchable technology, serving as an incredibly handy tool for artists, with the only limit being their imagination.
Ruskin School of Art clearly understand this, as their application of our switchable film is not only creative, but it is also effective, both inspiring for students and raising awareness of their prowess in art- this project is one that offers so much more than the basic functionality of switchable glass. Operating similarly to another notable project at the DC Thomson Fleet Street building, Ruskin cleverly utilise the rear projection functionality in its external switchable glass windows to project a dissected video that appears to interact with the windows as individual screens. This helps to create the ultimate ‘blank canvas’ for them to fill with the institution’s undeniable creativity.
They also make great use of the privacy function switchable glass inherently boasts. Using it to conceal the inside of the building during night time, they are able to alternate between an environment of openness and mystery at the press of a button, shrouding the contents of the building in frosted privacy or unveiling new installations or projects in style completely within their control.

Guggenheim Bilbao’s 20th Anniversary Show.
The Guggenheim Bilbao is the building that changed the fortunes of a city, and made Bilbao one of the cultural centres of Europe. This architectural icon and bastion of high art turns 20 in October 2017, and commissioned a new piece from 59 Productions to celebrate that anniversary. Using entirely original music, sound, light and projection, Frank Gehry’s astonishing titanium-clad building is augmented and transformed over a series of nights in a spectacle accessible to citizens of Bilbao and tourists alike. The technical and creative challenges make this on of 59’s most exciting commissions to date.

Abstract: Handheld Perspective Corrected Displays (HPCDs) can create the feeling of holding a virtual 3D object. They offer a direct interaction that is isomorphic to the manipulation of physical objects. This illusion depends on the ability to provide a natural visuomotor coupling. High performances systems are thus required to evaluate the fundamental merits of HPCDs. We built a spherical HPCD using external projection. The system offers a lightweight wireless seamless display with head-coupled stereo, robust tracking, and low latency. We compared users' performances with this HPCD and two other interactions that used a fixed planar display and either a touchpad or the spherical display as an indirect input. The task involved the inspection of complex virtual 3D puzzles. Physical puzzles were also tested as references. Contrary to expectations, all virtual interactions were found to be more efficient than a more "natural" physical puzzle. The HPCD yielded lower performances than the touchpad. This study indicates that the object examination task did not benefit from the accurate and precise rotations offered by the HPCD, but benefited from the high C/D gain of the touchpad.

South Korean retail giant Shinsegae Corporation engaged Montreal’s Moment Factory to create custom creative for the 6-storey LED centrepiece of a new shopping and entertainment complex in Daegu, south of Seoul.
Hired only weeks before the public opening, says the experiential agency, Moment Factory applied our broad experience in entertainment to rapidly activate the teams required to design and produce four distinct, awe-inspiring content pieces: Identity tricks the eye with 3D trompe-l’oeil architectural transformations, Luxury Box transports visitors deep into imaginary crystallizations of precious materials, Static Beauty livens up the mood with the story of fashion accessory paradise, while Rooms is an engaging, romantic comedy music video.

Narrativas em Movimento Porto Calvo.
In the year that Porto Calvo celebrates 381 years the port porto calvense witnessed an unprecedented representation of its history.
The façade of the Church of Our Lady of the Presentation, inaugurated in 1610, was transformed into a large screen where the most prominent signs of local identity were presented.
Popular figures, folk groups and scholars. Everything the region has to offer is used in the creation of the audiovisual show.
The result was surprising. An impact that is easily perceived in the expressions of enchantment of the audience. Hypnotized glances observe before him a construction of images that sometimes resembles a documentary, sometimes refers to the language of the video clip. At other times it becomes a sequence of subjective visual experiments.
It’s 200 years of epic narratives.
