Interactive Illumination Jacques Cartier Bridge
From Moment Factory
2017, Moment Factory and six local partners fulfilled a long-held dream of lighting up the Jacques Cartier Bridge--an architectural jewel and iconic Montreal landmark. Directed by Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated, collaborators shared one common goal: to give Montreal a new visual postcard and a showcase for the city’s creative and technological vanguard. The collaboration would result in the world’s most-connected bridge, an interactive illumination activated by real-time social media activity and big urban data.
At nightfall, the bridge comes to life, expressing the team’s Living Connections concept in two ways. First: the bridge’s interior volume reflects the city’s changing seasons with an ambient colour for each of the 365 days, while the bridge’s exterior is animated by light particles driven by real-time social media that tags Montreal. These particles are influenced by data pulled from the day’s weather, traffic, news and mood. The bridge, now as impressive at night as during the day, is a unifying symbol of the city. The project broadcasts Montreal’s creative expertise to a world seeking solutions that elegantly unite smart-city infrastructure with artistry and design. A project directed by Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated. A concept by Moment Factory. In collaboration with Ambiances Design Productions, ATOMIC3, Éclairage Public / Ombrages, Lucion Média, Réalisations and UDO Design.
Luciola : A Millimeter-Scale Light-Emitting Particle Moving in Mid-Air.
Japanese engineering researchers say they have created a tiny electronic light the size of a firefly which rides waves of ultrasound, and could eventually figure in applications ranging from moving displays to projection mapping.
We present an approach to realize the levitation of a small object with an embedded electronic circuit. Luciola is a light-emitting particle with a diameter of 3.5mm and a weight of 16.2mg moving in mid-air in a 10.4cm x 10.4cm x 5.4cm space through acoustic levitation using two 40-kHz 17 x 17 ultrasonic transducer arrays placed face-to-face at a distance of 20cm and wirelessly powered by 12.3-MHz resonant inductive coupling. The novelty of this paper is the acoustically levitated electronic object by the combined application of ultrasonic levitation and wireless powering to the levitated electronic object. A new shape of the levitated object and a new placement of the receiver coil to simultaneously realize acoustic levitation and wireless powering are proposed, achieving a stable wireless powering to a rotating levitated object at the bottom of an acoustic potential. To enable the levitation of a particle, a custom IC chip is essential in reducing the size and weight of the particle. In the design of the custom IC chip, a new voltage detector circuit enabling an accurate voltage detection and a correct output during the start-up is proposed to achieve an intermittent lighting of the LED to increase the maximum distance between the transmitter and the receiver coil. Luciola is applied to a self-luminous pixel in a mid-air display and drawings of characters in mid-air are demonstrated.

But that guy .....he realy dont like present his product !!!
Digital Marquee (LED Pylon) - The Forum Shops: Caesars Palace | Las Vegas | 4K UHD.
A unique installation on the Las Vegas strip, the Pylon sign outside of The Forum shops is a 3D canvas designed to interest and excite the millions of visitors per year who walk past it.
The software, developed by Acquire Digital, enables the stunning content to wrap around the high-resolution, custom-built 3D LED architecture of animated columns - simulating classic Roman, Marble, and in fact anything, to frame the main content visible on the strip. Also unique is the attention-grabbing transition, enabling the typical cut or fade to black as content swaps from one item in the playlist to another to be hidden behind a 3D rendered transition.
To control the sign, a simple to use customised playlist manager was created to enable the client to easily upload and scheduled content, choose animations and columns, and synchronise the Pylon to the nearby Windows (to enable fully immersive 'takeover' messages to occur).
The sign is owned and operated by Simon Properties, Software by Acquire Digital, Content by Moment Factory, Pylon by Yesco.

Japanese researchers develop ultrathin, highly elastic skin display.
The soft, flexible skin display is about 1 millimeter thick, and consists of a 16 x 24 array of micro LEDs and stretchable wiring mounted on a rubber sheet. It can withstand repeated stretching, by as much as 45 percent of its original length, without showing any loss in function of its electrical and mechanical properties. Credit: 2018 Takao Someya Research Group.
A new ultrathin elastic display that fits snugly on the skin can show the moving waveform of an electrocardiogram recorded by a breathable, on-skin electrode sensor. Combined with a wireless communication module, this integrated biomedical sensor system, called "skin electronics," can transmit biometric data to the cloud.
This latest research by a Japanese academic-industrial collaboration, led by Professor Takao Someya at the University of Tokyo's Graduate School of Engineering, is slated for a news briefing and talk at the AAAS Annual Meeting in Austin, Texas on February 17th.

International Woolmark Prize - REVEAL.
From Factory Fifteen
We directed the campaign for the 2017-18 International Woolmark Prize in Florence. Our task was to develop a theme and visual identity for the awards which spoke of innovation and was loyal to the brand.
We came up with a single motif: ‘DISRUPT THE THREAD.
We applied this motif to several pieces of content for the live show and digital, including a choreographed catwalk projection sequence, an interactive installation, graphic design, website assets and social media posts. We worked in tandem with event producers OBO and the lighting designers.
SHOW REVEAL SEQUENCE Our approach to the stage, where the collections would be revealed was to create an animated curtain of thread. This thread acted much like a theatre curtain, hiding the stage itself and animating / disrupting subtly before the show. During the reveal itself the thread comes to life. We created a 3 minute animated sequence which was timed to models walking out onto a purpose built stage. We developed 12 different techniques of digitally animated thread which represented the 12 nominees and their innovative approach to the design and manufacture of wool. A transparent gauze was used as the projection surface to envelop the models in the animation as they walked out.
