Philips Cinema 21:9 ratio TV

Philips has officially unveiled its super wide widescreen TV in the UK on Thursday as it attempts to offer something different to consumers aside from just another thin TV set. The new model, called Cinema 21:9, will for the time being only come as a 56-inch model which will offer a 21:9 ratio screen. The result means that movies shot in the 2.39:1 format will completely fill the screen.

Philips' groundbreaking Cinema 21:9 HDTV looked so curious when it launched a fortnight ago that we actually questioned its authenticity. Clearly, this beauty is for real. Pocket-lint was lucky enough to be on-hand for its unveiling in London, and it hosted up a nice video showing off the 56-inch beast in action. The black bars you've grown used to detesting were indeed gone, and while Philips wouldn't dole out any hard specifications, we are told that it boasts five HDMI sockets, a Spring release date and an estimated € 3.000,= price tag.

  1. De tv is maar liefst 1,4 meter breed. Eind februari wordt de prijs bekend gemaakt. De tv wordt verkocht met een homecinemaset met tuner, Blu-ray speler en 7.1 luidspreakers.
