Sony's rollable OLED display can wrap around a pencil.
Bron; www.sony.net
Nothing says "future" quite like a rollable display. Today Sony's giving us a glimpse into what will one day be with its 80μm-thick organic TFT-driven OLED display. The 4.1-inch display integrates Sony organic thin-film transistors and OLED technology onto a flexible 20μm substrate lacking any rigid driver IC chips. As such it can be wrapped around a cylinder with a 4-mm minimum radius. Display specs include a 432 x 240 pixel resolution (121ppi) supporting 16M colors while exceeding 100nits brightness and a 1,000:1 contrast. It's still research, but it's clearly advancing towards product... someday.

LG flexible display patent application.
Bron; www.unwiredview.com
We're still a ways out from real-world applications of flexible displays, but LG is preparing for the future: it's just filed a patent application that details changing a flexible display's touch sensitivity depending on the state of the display, and it's included some intriguing drawings of potential devices with the application. Specifically, the patent application includes claims referencing cylindrical, prism, folding, "rolling," "freestyle," and "hybrid" body shapes, which all sound pretty intense -- especially the hybrid body, which is a "combination of the folding body and rolling body." Of course, patent applications don't always turn into granted patents, let alone shipping products, but if you're in the mood to stare wistfully at line art and dream about the future

Letterkundig Museum omarmt digitale displays.
Bron: www.sign.nl
Wall of fame
'Wild Wonders of Europe'
Bron; www.sign.nl

Bron; www.idealize.nl

Google TV 2.
Google took the covers off of its TV initiative today. From everything I have read and seen from Google's developer conference, Google TV looks to be a well-thought, ambitious effort from the search juggernaut to conquer the divide between the web and TV. Whereas many before Google have failed, the company's approaching the problem by merging the best from both worlds, rather than creating something entirely new and different.

Google TV

Diesel Cam.
Diesel brings Facebook to life in its stores with Diesel Cam. Most likely inspired by the photograph booths found in amusement arcades, spliced with a vending machine, the Diesel Cam doubles up as a mirror and a shopping buddy by allowing wannabe models to share photos of themselves wearing Diesel’s threads on Facebook by logging in via Facebook Connect on the machine’s control panel.
The machine allows you to crop and cut pictures so only your pretty side is posted to your friend stream.
Seen only in Diesel’s stores in Barcelona and Madrid.

The Digital Mannequin.
The Digital Mannequin, exclusive product concept of Looknglas Window Video Systems, will put the retail industry on its ear. The Digital Mannequin is a projected window front display that allows the retailer to put a live looking model right on the window, modeling clothes, accessories, etc.
The Youtube videos illustrate it pretty well. What they don't illustrate is how easy the product is for the retailer. There is no training involved, and installation is done in one day. The retailer only need supply the video or still photography. Well, actually, they don't because Looknglas can provide video and production services as well. So the retailer really doesn't have to do anything.
Looknglas has created the Digital Mannequin out of the Window Video System product. Digital Mannequin lets clothing retailers finally put their goods on the front window in a way that absolutely stops shoppers in their tracks, and allows the store to display more product with pricing or promo messaging that will literally drag the shoppers into the store. Sheer genius!

HBO Cube Imagination.
HBO’s Cube installation and interactive site, launched in 2009, has won Gold at the Art Directors Club awards, following on from the Pencil award for entertainment at the One Show. The integrated campaign is centred on a four sided screen, presenting a multi-dimensional storytelling experience both online at HBOimagine.com and in select installations in New York City and Philadelphia. HBO Cube offers four different perspectives on the same scene, simultaneously. Two short films, Heist and Affair, were told from four distinct points of view. Each side of the cube stands alone as an engaging film, and as one piece of a larger puzzle. As viewers move around the cube, they watch the story unfold from different perspectives, forming different perceptions, and often misperceptions, of the characters and plot. Only by watching the story unfold from multiple sides of the cube can we begin to see the bigger picture. The campaign feeds into an user-generated film site, hboyourimagination.com, with three further films, Trapped, The Big One and Happy Kid encouraging the submission of new work.

Vinyl workout.
this interactive project by theo watson transforms the floor into a digital record player. ‘vinyl workout’ was created for the inaugural rotterdam electronic
music festival. the project is a giant record player that is projected onto the floor and controlled by running around on top of the surface. the record responds to the speed of the running as well as the direction, playing slow if you walk around slowly and playing backwards if you move counter clockwise. while it can be used in a playful mood, we can also picture variations adapted to treadmills at the gym.
